"...is a life saving instrument for the spouse, family or close friends of compulsive gamblers.
We come into the group feeling alone, frightened, helpless, desperate and ashamed. We hesitated to share problems and failures, fearing none could understand. The Gam-Anon group is warmly accepting and it offers the new member identification. The message we receive is: "Come join with us, we too were alone, afraid and unable to cope with the problem; we will share with you a new and fulfilling way of life". Gam-Anon's purposes are three-fold: To learn acceptance and understanding of the gambling illness; to use the program and its problem solving suggestions as aids in rebuilding our lives and, upon our own recovery, to give assistance to those who suffer."
This site is very simple. It contains quizzes about gambling and basic information. It also gives a meeting schedule as well as a suggested reading list to learn more.        -OCC
This site is similarly structured to Gambler's Anonymous. The only real difference is in the fact that the services are intended towards people who are affiliated with compulsive gamblers (family, friends, etc.). Since many addicts shy away from treatment, this site is very useful. -SHK

Getting Past Gambling
Website:
www.gettingpastgambling.com
"...is a essentially a community where people come to share experiences while providing moral support for others. The homepage provides daily or weekly anecdotes, poems, words of encouragement, etc. There is also a forum and message board where people can communicate with others who are involved in the fight against addiction."
Unlike many other internet sites, this site provides sentimental support for gambling addicts who may steer away from the conventional internet site that provides the usual array of information and little support. The daily entries that users provide are very useful and provide much sentimental support and advice. -SHK

One of the most important features for an organization is its credibility, which this organization possesses. In 2000, the Harvard Medical School established the  Institute for Research on Pathological Gambling and Related Disorders through a contract that was awarded by this organization. The site is well organized and is also a reliable resource for information and consultation; it offers conferences, publications, etc. -SHK

The main site, however, also offers a counselor search through states, where you can find a person equipped to handle your situation in your area. This site has more info on person-to-person help than basic information. - TAL
This site also has information about treatment facilities. It gives some general information, such as FAQ sheets, self-tests, and really inspiring stories. It also gives info about upcoming events and a suggested reading list. -OCC
Essentially, this is a typical treatment that provides the usual services. However, it is very reliable because of its name and status. One would not have to worry about the validity and credibility of the organization. -SHK
