Website: www.na.org
"An international, community-based non-profit
association of recovering drug addicts with more than 31,000 weekly meetings in over 100
countries worldwide. The NA program started as a small US movement in the late 1940's. It
has grown into one of the world's oldest and largest organizations of its type. Membership
is open to all drug addicts. As a member, you will share your successes and challenges in
overcoming active addiction and living drug free, productive lives."
Narcotics Anonymous is one of the most thorough
websites in its field. It provides information from all over the world and ways of how to
help and get involved. The site also provides literature and news. -PT
This site has more information on it than
any other
site I've been to. There are links to sites that will take you to a local affiliate of NA,
where you can find meetings to attend and ways to get help. On the site, you can find
an online magazine that has some good information. There is also a clean-time
calculator, which is a neat tool. -TAL
If you are seeking help or information
on overcoming a drug problem with an experienced association, NA is the place to
contact. Unlike some of the other websites we list here, this website is a bit confusing;
it can be difficult to find out who to contact for your local group, but the information is
there. -MF

"A private, non-profit, non-partisan coalition of
professionals from the communications industry. Best known for our national, anti-drug
advertising campaign, our mission is to reduce demand for illicit drugs in America through
media communication. To date, more than $3 billion in media exposure and some 600 ads have
been donated to the Partnership's national campaign, making our effort the single,
largest, public service ad campaign in history. We accept no money from manufacturers of
alcohol and/or tobacco products. Our work focuses on preventing drug use among kids and
teens.
"Comprised of a small staff and hundreds of
volunteers from the communications industry, the largest public service campaign in the
history of advertising has played a contributing role in reducing overall drug use in
America."
The website is very informative, providing information
about every drug. It describes the side effects of each drug, the slang terms
and the long-term effects. The most helpful drug website. -PT
This site has more than a hundred great stories, most that
are meant to be inspirational. It's easier to relate to something when it's being told as
a story from a person who's experienced it, as opposed to some clinical
"expert." There is a memorial wall, where people can pay respect to their
friends or family that died because of drugs. There are also commercials in the campaign
against drugs. This site has the basics, as well. -TAL
This is a very cool website, containing a lot of
helpful information and it is easy to navigate. You'll find it useful to look at what it
has to offer. -MF
This site also has information created
specifically for the teen-age group. The site contains stories from many teen-agers, mostly
ones of inspiration along with tragedy. The site also has 6 teenagers writing about their
experience and rehabilitations during their time at a treatment center. -OCC
