       Gives governmentally approved guidelines on prevention and protection.  Although some of the vocabulary may be overly technical, a glossary is provided to look up any difficult terms. For those who want regularly updated information on trials of vaccines and treatments, safety guidelines and warnings, and a forum to voice your opinion, and would prefer this in e-mail form rather than making continuous visits to the website, there is an e-mail list that you may join. -JEC

      The site is one of the best sites available. It is a part of a larger website, www.thebody.com, which has comprehensive information and links on both AIDS and HIV. There is abundant information available, whether you are interested in AIDS awareness or if you need treatment. -JEC
       You can't get personalized help here, but the website does offer information on AIDS and HIV. -MF
       The site contains a list of topics relating to HIV/AIDS that people can ask The Body's experts about. It contains information on the basics of AIDS and prevention, what to do if you've just been diagnosed, treatment, quality of life, and activism. It also contains an electronic memorial, built by friends and families of people lost to the AIDS epidemic. - TAL
      This site also has information about how to protect oneself from STDs in same gender relationships. -OCC

      Provides information on available resources, support groups, educational materials, financial assistance, clinical trials, federally-approved treatments, and business and labor responses to AIDS. With a touch-tone phone, you can get information on different services, publications, clinical trials, etc. -SF or KLG
      Also has a large searchable database with more than 16,000 items in more than 34 languages. Provides numerous links, which can be helpful for those who want to find a specific area of AIDS information. -JEC
       The website offers an extensive amount of information, is extremely effective and is easy to explore. It provides fact sheets, guidelines, reports, posters, brochures and videotapes that can be mailed or faxed. It has health information specialists who can answer questions, provide referrals, and offer technical assistance. One web page has a national database of HIV testing sites. -MF

Our mission is to reduce the spread of HIV disease, help people with HIV maintain and improve their health and independence, and keep the prevention, treatment and cure of HIV an urgent national and local priority. In fulfilling this mission, we will remain true to our heritage by fighting homophobia and affirming the individual dignity of all gay men and lesbians.
       "The world's oldest and largest not-for-profit AIDS organization, providing services to people with AIDS and their loved ones, educating the public, and advocating for fair and effective AIDS policies. Services include clinical services, legal services and advocacy, tuberculosis education and treatment programs, HIV prevention and education."
       GMHC provides technical assistance to organizations and individuals nationwide. Most social services are limited to NYC residents. -SF or KLG
       Although the site provides many useful resources for homosexuals, its services are in no way limited to gay men. In addition, the website provides basic information in a clear and easy to understand manner. For those interested, there are ways to volunteer at the center as well as other ways to contribute. -JEC
       Once you enter the website, there is a quick guide that can get you help or information quickly. The website has
hundreds of pages containing information and resources about various health, public policy, and legal aspects of HIV and AIDS. This website offers so much useful and important information and is one of the easiest websites to navigate. -MF

   "Formed in August 1997 to consolidate many other programs funded under the Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act to improve the quality and availability of care for people with HIV/AIDS and their families.
        "The CARE Act funds primary care and support services for individuals living with the HIV disease who lack health insurance and financial resources for their care. CARE Act programs reach more than 500,000 individuals each year."
       Part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.  Since it is a governmental site, this website deals mostly with the legal aspects of AIDS care.  It explains in detail, however, the programs being initiated by the government to provide the most effective methods for helping people with AIDS or HIV.  Although there is no e-mail address provided, there is an area where you can give feedback and have questions answered. -JEC
      Not a very large website compared to the others, but it does offer information and help if you need it. -MF

       You can call the hotline any time of the day, which I think is great. Well organized with a lot of information and links to other websites. Also includes a web page with resources for teens. -MF
